I can not stop raving on & on about the brilliance of this site and the impact this has on millions of families around the world. There is an estimated 32 million refugees scattered around the world with very little or many times no chance to find their families due to logistical breakdown, prior to refunite.org there was no global registry.

This search engine enables refugees to seek from country to country, last name to last known location, where the engine intelligently narrows down the search with just mininal knowledge to anyone of their origin that matches their criteria.

Like most things that aim to make a difference in the world refunite.org is a non profite organisation founded by two danish brothers David & Christopher Mikkelsen.

Please make sure you lend your support to the cause as most of you out there prepare to spend the holidays with loved ones.

I know everybody has been pretty much going crazy for Lady Gaga, a 22 year old electro/dance, New York based singer. She is going to be huge, she kind of already is I guess.

Electro beats thumping and fashionable outfits does not make up for lack of originality miss GaGA. Don't get me wrong I'd rather have her "Just Dance" song being overplayed than most other artists, yet I cant help but think the world (americans) need to hear the orignal artists instead of her Akon label-signed-swedish-produced sound. I mean you got Robyn, Roisin Murphy, Annie, Bertine Zetlitz, miss Grace "motherfucking-rock-attitude" Jones etc so forth, and on and on. It all sounds like stuff I was partying to in underground after clubs about 5 years ago.

What im trying to say is the European electro sound is fucking the American "electro" in the arse royally.

My friend Claudio showed me this incredibly erotic and serious 2008 chilean movie, In Bed (En la Cama) that follows two casual lovers that meet at a party and decide to rent a motel room and fuck each others brains out. Starting of like a sexualized version of Before Sunrise" and "Before Sunset" with Ethan Hawke, this movie wonders into the darker side of passion and casual sex as the characters take a break from all the love making and start to interact.

Needless to say the dialogue is nothing short of amazing. It's honest, pure, simple and ironic.

Without sliding over to the overly romantic vibe of "Before Sunrise", yet intimate.

The way the director creeps up close to the characters with his camera, depicting every inch of desire and seduction both characters experience throughout the night is just pure genius.

The actors lay it bare and play their asses off. Looking seemingly comfortable naked.

Definitely one of the best scripted and shot movies I've seen in a long time.

And probably contains one of the HOOOOTTEST sex acts filmed.

If you can get a hold of it here in Europe is well worth a watch.

I've decided not to blog on the current financial crisis as I'm guessing you are all, like me half shitting their pants, and half not really faced by it, as it (the crisiss) has only begun to trickle down to us every day dopeasspeople. We are urged not panic yet panic stricken the panic stricken media all paint a doomsday picture of the state of the worlds economy. Buhu! people have lived on less before and will continue to do so in the future.

However point is that, no matter how big the crisis will be, there is no excuse for PM Gordon Brown to cheaply make use of the already wrong-on-so-many-levels anti-terrorist laws that have enabled him to freeze Icelandic banks money in the UK to protect UK savers money.
It completly proves that all anti-terrorist laws are just a massive load of bollocks to control and target individuals or those rare moments when a corporate slip-up is so massive it demands state action.
Big Brother is indeed becoming reality in the UK.

Michael Moore has released, Slacker Uprising, a film that documents the failed attempts of Mr Moore to swing votes the Democratic way at the 04 election.The fim follows Moore's 62 city tour of the Swing states in that years election.

Slacker Uprising is Michael Moore's attempt to get the slacker generation off their asses and vote, by bribing them with noodless (?), and shouting very loudly at very publicisized, and very american pep-rallys.

Ive tried about a 100 times now to download the documentary from this very populist "super-sized super-star" filmmaker, however the film is only available for Canadian and US residents only. A bit puzzling given the fact that the Press Material available on the website states that this movie is "for the fans".
However dopeasspeople salutes mr Moores populist showman politics that aim to get the American people to make the right choice and "Barack" the Vote.

Okay so another Andy Warhol exhibition is perhaps not the most exiting art to see in Londono as I'm sure there must of been about a 1000 of them over the years. Let the man rest!
However Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms exhibition at the Hayward Gallery (We love) takes on the impossible task of trying to unmask the man behind the highly influential art.
Presenting films, screen test, videos and television programmes, along with the more famous paintings and installations, the Andy Warhol: Other Voices, Other Rooms brings to light the amazing creative processes and combines rare archive material to capture the unusual spirit with which Warhol worked, including oversexed films from the imfamous Andy Warhol factory.
Organised in collaboration with the Andy Warhol Museum in America, the exhibition is certain to bring some stunning pieces of his work to London.
This exhibition kicks some serious ass and worth checking out.
I saw it in Stockholm this past Easter at the "Moderna Museet" and can truly say that although mr Warhol will always remain an enigma, there is a trace of what Warhols pop-mastermind could of been like

I've been saying forever how much I love Latin-American communist propaganda paintings, leaflets, flyers and posters that can still be seen on murals in many Latin countries, especially Chile, who has been a radical centre of Latin-American propaganda painting since 1940s.

I remember being fascinated with these huge paintings as a kid whenever we would go back to visit our family in Valparaiso.

To my surprise, and shame of not having discovered this before, as I haven't been in Chile for almost 6 years now. Note to self: VISIT THE MOTHERLAND!. There has been a huge surge in political graffiti drawing inspirations from it's complicated political past resulting in "...political engaged street art cross-fertilized with graffiti to create a multi-faceted and rapidly developing panorama of politically didactic and post political street art."

The book "Street Art Chile" is a collection of images taken throughout the country with a special focus on Santiago and Valparaiso (My birthplace). Published by 8 books and written by Dr Rodney Palmer an art historian, writer and critic who has worked on Latin American art since the 1980s,"Street Art Chile" is one heck of a book that will blow you street art sences.

Dope Ass Project: FAVELA PAINTING PROJECT

Reading the August issue of Trace magazine I was blown away by a project called Favela Painting Project run by Dutch artists, Jeroen Koolhas and Dre Urhahn of the Firmeza Foundation.

The Project aims to produce art work in places where people are left socially excluded, such as the many favelas (slums) found in and around Rio de Janeiro. Around one 5th of Rio's population live in some 700 favelas.

Jeroen and Dre collaborate with the local community to find a painting that the community as whole can take pride in. By teaching the local children different painting techniques the organizations hopes to keep the kids out of reach of the local drug lords.

The organisation hopes to fight social exclusion, combat prejudice, contribute to the education of the local youth, create sustainable solutions and attract the art worlds attention.

The Favela Painting Project finished it's first major artwork in 2007 in one of Rio's most notorious favelas, Villa Cruzeiro entitled

'Kid with Kite'.

As the summer turned "early Autumn" yet again here in London I was bored. And as you do when bored in ever-so-rainy London, you try and catch an exhibition, and preferably a free one!. So I applied my best at typing in the words V&A on google that led me too the V&A museum website . Where I found the most exiting thing to happen since the Golden Age Of Couture Exhibition, "Hats: An Anthology by Stephen Jones"

Stephen Jones milinery extraordinaire, has helped the V&A make an anthology of hats:

"Working with radical hat designer, Stephen Jones, the V&A will present an ‘anthology of hats’. Drawn from V&A and international collections and ranging in style and period from a 17th-century Puritan’s hat to a 1950s Balenciaga couture piece to hats by Jones and his contemporaries including to the latest creations by young milliners such as Noel Stewart, the exhibition will investigate the cultural and historic importance of millinery. The exhibition will be arranged in four main themes - Inspiration looks at the myriad of sources including historicism, exoticism and the natural world; Creation explores the techniques, materials and processes; The Salon focuses on the buying and selling of hats and the millinery shop; and The Clients which will examine the wearing and etiquette of hats and will feature headgear worn by well known clients of some of the world’s top milliners including Audrey Hepburn, Isabella Blow, Anna Piaggi, Dita von Teese."

Some people simply don't know when to quit (The word Prime is not in their vocabulary). And then there's people who disappear reluctantly into cult obscurity.

Well it's been about 5 years and instead of growing admiration and gracefully assuming his role behind the scenes, we have seen the demise of a legend.

According to Billboard.com Jay Z confirmed rumours that he is recording an 11th (4th post retirement)and final album that will be released via Def Jam Called The Blueprint 3.

Seriously Jay, for the sake of Hip-Hop, just stop recording, I mean you discovered Rhianna for god's sake.

Russian invasion of Georgia

As many of you know, Russia invaded Georgia on the 8th of August, after a feud regarding oil pipelines and South Ossetia reached it's climax.

I find it competly unacceptable that yet again another super power of the world, is allowed to rage and savage another country and it's inhabitants, in hope of gaining control over oil, while the rest of the world can only stand by and look.

Therefore it's important that we all take a stand and say, it is not acceptable. It's not justifiable.

And help out as much as possible.

"The conflict has caused civilian casualties and more are at risk,It is essential that humanitarian agencies be able to reach the affected and the displaced, and that those trapped in conflict areas be granted passage to safer areas as soon as possible," U.N. Isaac Lee Hayes, Jr was charismatic soul and funk singer-songwriter, musician, record producer, arranger, composer and actor. Mr Hayes first shot at fame was when he released 'Hot Buttered Soul' in (1969) and 'Black Moses' (1971). He went on to release a number of succesfull albums in the '70s that went on to create the urban comtemporary music genre.

Hayes was one of the main creative forces behind southern soul music label Stax Records , where he served as both an in-house songwriter and producer with partner David Porter.

Alongside his work in soul music, Hayes was very successful film score composer for motion pictures. His best known work, for the 1971 blaxploitation film Shaft earned Hayes an Oscar for Best Original Score ,the first Academy Award received by an African-American in a non-acting category and two Grammy Awards. He received a third Grammy for the album Black Moses.

From 1997 t0 2006 his career took yet another path, as he voiced the character of "Chef" in cult show, "South Park". Hayes Left the cast of "South Park" in 2006 after he an episode that he felt had ridiculed his religion, Scientology.
In 1992, in recognition of his humanitarian work, he was crowned an honorary king of Ghana's Ada district.

Hayes was found unconscious in his home located just east of Memphis, Tennessee on August 10 2008 as reported by the Shelby County, Tennessee Sheriff's Department. A Shelby County Sheriff's deputy responded to Hayes' home after his wife found him on the floor near a still-running treadmill. Hayes was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital in Memphis, where he was pronounced dead at 2:08pm

Mr Hayes legacy will live on for many years to come.

Ann-Sofie Backs Spring/Summer is a bit pale after the massive breakthrough and exposure

of the Winter collection inspired by celeb culture and the coolnes of shades.

This collection however feels a bit bleaker, though a solid and very wearable white soft rock chick spring looks. Some odd pieces of draped dresses in white and black stand out.

A sort of in-between collection for Back who i'm sure will surprise us more pleasently next time.

The importance and influence of Scandinavian fashion and design in general make this fashion week one to watch out for.

Dope Ass Movie: BATMAN: The Dark Knight

I'm not usually a big fan of summer big budget Hollywood blockbusters, although this summer I've fallen for the hype of 2 very anticipated movies, 'TheSex In The City' movie and 'Batman:The Dark Knight'.I finally went to see 'The Dark Knight' on Tuesday after deciding that I had to see mr Leadgers much appraised last performance for myself.

To my surprise, leadger's Joker is one of the most memorable movie villains I've seen in recent Hollywood productions. I mean it wasnt the most original movie plot, or characters, but there was something unsettling and gripping in the way Leadger interpreted the role of the Joker.

The Saw looking masks of the joker is hella scary and his psychotic behaviour, is suprisingly disturbing in some scenes.

All in all it's a classic performance by Leadger, proving yet again that he left this world at the very top of his acting game. As for the rest of the movie, Christian Bale should be best remembered for 'American Psycho'.

Chuck Palahniuk is one of my all time favorite writers, having penned 8 best selling ( Fightclub, Choke, Survivor etc)novels this word smith of the deranged is now back with another sick, and twisted novel, Snuff. Snuff centers around a porn queen attempting to break the world record for serial sex on camera with 600 men. The story is told through the eyes of Mr #72, Mr #137 and Mr #600 as they wait for their turn in the greenroom. I can't wait to get my hands on this book!.

To celebrate the UK release of yet another one of his outlandish novels the author will be having a book read, audience Q&A, book signing, and pleading you to purchase his book on the 12th of august at the Roundhouse.

The Fashion V. Sport exhibitions opens it's doors to the public tomorrow, for what might not at a first glance might seem like a boring exhibition trying to cash in on the state of fashion today.

However unlike sport and fashion seem to one another. One cannot deny the influence on one towards the other. I mean what would Serena Williams be without her weave? And what would preppy be without tennish shorts? just plain old boring.

This exhibition aims to "explore the creative connection between fashion and sport".

Recent developments have seen an increasing number of collaborations and hybrids, from fashion designers producing collections with sportswear brands to sports personalities heading fashion campaigns or even designing their own collections. Fashion V Sport will reveal the complexities and tensions between the two industries.Sportswear has become an essential part of the modern wardrobe. Trainers and tracksuits are often more readily worn than suits, and high performance textiles developed for competition are being integrated into high-end fashion. Half Nigerian and half Swedish bombshell Sabina of Swedish Next Top Model fame proves once again that the people on the ‘Next Top Model’ franchise know as much about high fashion and modelling as Tyra Banks knows about hosting a show, i.e. Not much at all!.
Young miss Karlsson was the standout model of that season, with her top model aspirations ending as top 3, Swedish model and top 9 Scandinavian models.
Does anybody remember who wone? Neither do I, I’m guessing it’s a good thing as I’m not even tempted to google it, not even a little bit, not at all. I vaguely remember her having fat cheeks though.

Anyways Sabina signed with Ford Models, and moved to the states where she has gone for Victoria’s secret, Betsy Johnson, Heatherette and Chaiken, yes Swedish Top Model judges eat your high street fashion hearts out!.

I loved her look on the show, although she did not photograph all that well she had the charisma, and looking at her new shots, the girl is on fire. The freckles, the hair, and measurements to die for, let's us know this girl means business
I predict a very busy fashion week schedule for this international beauty.

Dope Ass Book: Photo Icons The Story behind the pictures

I have made another great and cheap discovery in the book department. As I strolling along Notting Hill Gate, (as you do) on a hot saturday (26/8) in July I was drawned in by a big yellow sign with red, white and black letters that said: The Book Warehouse - Sale!. I immidiatly found an excuse to get shelter from the sun. I know I'm a nerd so sue me!.
Anyways I found this great book for only £7,99 called Photoicons - The story behind the pictures by Hans-Michael Koetzle, published by Taschen ( we love, looooove their books).
Nedless to say I was ecstatic. It a fantastic book that guides you through the history of photography from the very first ever photograph taken " A view from the study room" by Joseph Nicephore Niepce, to Helmut Lang and Rene Burri's famous Che Guevara pictures, in a most ambitious manner. By putting the images in a wider social context, and depicting it's importance to photography's aestetic and technical qualities.

I'm obsessed. murketing is officially the most fascinating blogg I've come across in a while.. Here Rob Walker quoetes an article on Ad Age on the subtle product placemnt of Apple in Disneys Walle E.

"Apple products only physically appear in “Wall –E” a few times –an iPod that re-projects a favourite movie, the sound of the Mac start-up tone signalling that Wall-E, the titular robotic romantic lead, has fully re-charged via solar panels, and one-button mice scurrying around a garbage dump. However, there is a less obvious but still noticeable Apple influence that runs throughout the film.

“My first thought when I watched the movie with my kids and I heard that Mac boot tone and the whole audience laughed… was that it’s so subtle, it’s almost indoctrinating.” Said Forrester Research Analyst James Mcquinvey. “That 600 year from now there’s nothing of value on the Earth, but there’s the Mac boot tone.” Abram Saur, a freelance writer who pens the annual product placement awards for brandchannel.com, said the whole film could serve as a model for the future.

“People talk about how products and brands will sponsor movies… that’s what’s going to happen. But Apple has already done that here without being directly involved. This is what we would use as a great example of how to sponsor a movie,” he said. “I would call it product homage. And that is way more valuable than a product placement. It doesn’t just reinforce a single Apple product, it reinforces Apple’s entire design approach from Mac book to IPod to Iphone.”

What makes this "experience" so annoying for me is the fact that Steve Jobs the head of Apple used to own Pixar and is still a member of it's board and Wall E is a Disney/Pixar movie.

Dope Ass Magazine: THE FACE

The Face magazine was first published in May 1980 by Nick Logan, out of his publishing house, Wagadon. The sole initial purpose of the Face was to cash on the new breed of magazine that portrayed street culture and fashion, that had been started by I-D magazine.

The face had a very unique art direction that mirrored I-D magazine yet still managed to not feel like a copy of the original.

Sadly this inspirational magazine was taken out of circulation by EMAP who later bough Wagadon from Logan

The Face, often referred to as the "80s fashion bible", was influential in championing a number of fashion music and style trends, whilst keeping a finger on the pulse of youth culture for over two decades; its best selling period was in the mid-1990s under editor Richard Benson.

In the late 1980s, the magazine contained an article suggesting thatJason Donovan was a hypocrite and in consequence of the subsequent court case it needed the readers' donations to pay substantial libel damages. The magazine set up the Lemon Aid fund, so called as one of the points debated in the libel case was whether Jason Donovan used lemon juice on his hair to highlight it. There was even a special aid CD by The Shamen with special mixes to gain funds to keep THE FACE alive afterwards.
Notable names associated with the magazine were designer & typographer Neville Brody (Art Director, 1981-86), Julie Burchill,Tony Parsons, photographer Juergen Teller and writers including Jon Savage and Fiona Russel Powell.

The face closed down in 2004 to benefit the launch of spin-off fashion magazine POP, that proved to be a whole lot more successful than The Face.

I've already established that I'm an all round nerdy kid. But the nerdiest I get is when I stumble across some other worldly sounding music. Something so new and fresh I just have to tell the whole world. Usually I'm pretty ahead of everyone on what's coming out, it feeds my nerd ego.

This time however my nerd powers failed me and I found out about this new obsession called Leon Jean Marie from youtube after seeing his giant and colorful poster on my way to work every day.

Having already received all media acclaim that is possible to claim (mind the pun) this 24 year old east London native is destined for grand accomplishment.

Hot piece of future funk, that gives Prince and other wannabes (Justin) a run for their money.

Dope Ass People: Larry Levan

Once upon a time in the '70s and early '80s there was a place called the Paradise Garage.
At this magical place people from all different walks of life came together to dance, party and celebrate the escape the harsh reality of '70s New York (drugs, drugs and more drugs).
Larry Levan gave these people the road to walk on their way to this fabulous escape.

Larry Levan (born Lawrence Philpot,July 20, 1954 – diedNovember 8, 1992 was probably one the most influential DJs in the history of dance music. The club has been described as the prototype of the modern dance club, because it was entirely focused on dancing, and was the first to put the DJ at the center of attention. Larry developed a cult following.
, who referred to his sets as "Saturday Mass". Influential US DJ Francois Kevorkian credits Levan with introducing the dub aesthetic into dance music.

Levan was openly gay and got his start alongside DJ Frankie Knuckles at The Continental Baths as a replacement for the DJ from The Gallery, Nicky Siano.
Levan's DJing style was influenced by Siano's eclectic style, and by The Loft's David Mancuso
(the father of modern day clubbing!), who briefly dated Levan in the early 1970s. As Knuckles was still trying to make his way in the New York club scene, Levan became a popular attraction perhaps due to his "diva persona", which he developed in the city's notoriously competitive black drag houses .
Nevertheless Levan drew manage to hold court at the Paradise Garage until 1987, when the authorities closed down the legendary club where Levan drew a mixed crowd of black & hispanic gays and str8 dance fans.

Dope Book: Helmut Newton Autobiography

I'm a bit of a nerd. I transform from a magazine slave into a bookworm during summer time when school is out and I in general have more time for myself.
So in my quest for a good book I stumbled upon a great find, Helmut Newton's "Autobiography".
I'm a sucker for a find and most of my more memorable items have been found in a yard sale.
The newton book was an unlikely find as it was being discontinued at Waterstones for £4,00.
"Autobiography" is a tell all tale from one of the world's most successful and influential photographers.
Newton let's you inside his inner thoughts on his amazing life story.
From pre 2nd world war Germany to his escape from the Nazis to Singapore as an 18 year old.
A highly recomendable book and a great find.

Paris Couture Week 2008: Givenchy

I know I tend to say this a whole lot but it is worth saying again. I might be biased (being of latin heritage) but I am loving the native Peruvian touches of this collection. Who knew an upcoming trip to Peru would equal such interesting fashion.
Tisci for Givenchy is probably my favourite designer right now after Nicolas Ghesquiere (Balenciaga) of course.
Conceptual chic and urban features mixes with the tobacco brown of the gaucho,the vivid pinks , folkloric alpaca blanket stripes, and patterned knits of Inca culture, a true homage to a way of dressing that I am used to seeing in a more traditional way when I visit my old country (Chile).
Definitely my favourite of this years fall Couture week.
I bet all my money Tisci is the new Ghesquiere just give him a couple more of settling in seasons.

I don't want to be a hater. Dior is a fashion powerhouse whose significance one should never EVER underestimate.Dior was a genius and Galliano IS a genius.
However I'm sort of getting tired of all the '50s and '40s references of Galliano for his past couture shows. Perhaps the collection is a stepping stone as he moves to explore new territory
(I hope) , as it was "fresh couture - restrained and refined" according to Galliano himself.
I say it was a typically beautiful Galliano collection, with a lot more obvious nods to Dior's New Look, perhaps that is the "fresh couture" Galliano was talking about.
Perhaps it's the fact that the first lady of France madame Sarkozy, is a walking & publicly talking (and singing) advertisement. She has already publicly declared her love for the fashion house and apparently wears nothing else.

Men's fashion is a lot harder to design, as men's clothing doesn't have the range female, fashion has, men's are also traditionally less willing to experiment.
d'Etoiles S/S 09 show sits like a cold pint of lemonade on a hot summer day, in other words, re-freshing and cool. A laid back cool.
The designer put an emphasis on the male waist, creating a masculine man of the new century, that embraces his female side quite freely.
Loving the colour tones and the scarf as a belt look.
Looking forward to next year already

This is fashion my friends. Fabulous brand fifth Avenue shoe repair (loving the name) showcased one of the most interesting shows to date on fashion week.
The show was a minimalistic surreal take on Romanticism. The 3D-ish braids on the models were great. In many ways this show reminded me of Victor & Rolf a couple of seasons back, however more reserved and more subtle.
My favourite is the white ribbon dress.

Finally some freaking colours! Loving the hair and shades!. Loving the shoes however too much of a reference to margiella. It's a trend!it's a trend! screams the little miss goodie to-shoes of the Swedish fashion press, I say imitation is the most honest form of flattery, bitch.
All these margiella look-a-like shoes are making me ask myself if margiella has knicked the idea from someone else. If anybody knows please enlighten me!
The little suede jackets are the cutest thing ever and the 80s loafers on the men's side never felt more natural.
Anyways despite the shoes the clothes were rocking and I see a whole lot of international potential for this line.

Okey so this report might be a little bit biased as I am not really a Filippa K fan.
The label showed as usual no signs of exploring the fun side of fashion. Instead ms K opted for the usual safe grey tones, and takes on current trends like the a bit of flowers, Martin Margiella type shoes, the sock+ pumps look (done last year I believe by Ann-Sofie Back) and bow-ties to complete the gentleman look on the men's side.
A safe show, where nothing really stood out.

A lot more luxury orientated than usual for a Swede. Zero point for originality however as many of the dresses looked a bit too much like Lanvin.
Shoes were ugly, and managed to take some shine of many of the looks.

The Acne show did not include any major showstopping numbers as the label continued on their simplistic stylish and cool fashion. Clean lines however, combo of grey, white and black for the ladies, and subtle explosions of colour on the men's side.
Loving the shoes for the ladies, and slightly over sized cowboy hat, my idea originally (I had an over sized hat dream a while ago! hehe). Don't know about the half transparent sheer legging's at first glanced they DID NOT convince me, but they are growing on me somehow now.
My bet is that the black boots with wooden wedge heel, (with a slight edge) will become a best seller and fashion press favourite.
All in all not a bad show for ACNE who are clearly chasing international high fashion dreams.

The ultimate hipster-anti-coolness-nerdy-kid-cool mag that simply kicks some serious free magazine ass. This high quality monthly glossy magazine is distributed in cool shops and cafes in some 15 countries around the world.
Founded in Montreal ,Quebec by Suroosk Alvi,Shane Smith and Gavin Mcinnes, the magazine was launched as the Voice of Montreal in 1994 with government funding to provide work and a community service. The guys decided to cut the government out and moved to New York in 1996, and lash out some white suburban angst on the world, in a most ironic way.
The content of the magazine is always known to be on the, "edgy" side to put it mildly blunt.
However it never misses the mark and always provides me with the type of laughter that has me typing LOL! LOL! on my msn.

Articles, such as The Vice Guide to Shagging Muslims and Bukkake On My Face: Welcome to the Ancient Tradition of the Japanese Facial have gotten the magazine being banned from a number of university campuses in the States
. The magazine is also famous for the extremly harsh "DOs and DONTs", section which has since been imitated by countless other magazines. The feature displays candid photographs of strangers in public places accompanied with a short piece of commentary either ridiculing or praising the person's fashion and perceived sensibility, although some DOs and DON'Ts don't comment seriously on fashion, preferring to couple unusual photos with absurd text to create a joke. We love it.

Vice has strong ties with hipster icons such as photographers Terry Richardson, Patrick O'dell, (their former photo editor), clothing line American Apparel (owned by the founders), and comedians such as Jimmy Kimmel, Sarah Silverman and David Cross. Vbs.tv, Vice's new "television" channel, is available for viewing on the internet, with the apparent intention of circumventing network intervention over content issues and allowing for a global, free of charge distribution plan to that of the magazine.

Vice's issues are usually devoted to one theme (e.g., "The Comics Issue," "The Iraq Issue") but, in 2007, Vice announced: "After umpteen years of putting out what amounted to a reference book every month, we started to get bored with it. Besides, too many other magazines have ripped it and started doing their own lame take on themes. So we're going to do some issues, starting now, that have whatever we feel like putting in them."

Vice is more than just a funny butt-fucking joke, as every issue centers amongst a series of articles with substance on topics you never knew existed. Vice never gets old, never goes mainstream, and never compromises it's humor.

Melo, Melo, Melo

So swedes are not just only taking over the whole fashion scene and fucking it up ( in a Swedish simplistic-ikea-way) we are also taking over music (Kleerup, Robyn, the hives etc, etc).
So I am mighty exited to hear that blue-eyed soul crooner Melo is finally debuting with an album that has been a very long time coming (why do soul singers do this?). I have certainly been waiting for this album for so long that I had actually forgotten all about Melo (so sorry).
Nevertheless the forgotten wait is over and the music is poetry in my ears.
Echoing Stevie Wonder and Rasmus Faber, Melo reminds me of so many that have tried before but from a fresh point of view. So please my dope ass people support the art!

It's the ultimate fashionista mag, so let's start by dropping names.

Editor-in-Chief :Sophie Neophitou-Apostolou Her name sounds like a Greek, almighty and all powerful goddess. Maybe it's just the fact that she is a fashion goddess. Or maybe it's just me and the rest of the world!. Fashion director of The Sunday Times, regular contributor of;Dutch, Purple, Vogue Japan, Visinionaire, Dazed & Confused, Nova, Independent Saturday Magazine (Fashion Editor). She was voted by The Observer as one of the worlds most influential people in fashion.
Art Director: Daren Ellis Art director of Tate Magazine and contributor of Dazed & Confused, Arena Homme +, and the now defunct The Face (one of the worlds most influential and my favourite)
Photographers: This part can really go on until next year, so I've picked out some of the most regular contributors: Sam Haskins,Alasdair Mclellan,Corrine Day, Alex Cayley, John Akehurst ,David Armstrong and Richard Bush.

10 magazine is a cutting edge fashion lifestyle magazine seen through the eyes and wallet of a true fashionista. Feels needless to say that the art direction and the fashion is amazing, as 10's most valuable asset is that the magazine has a colourful personality, it dares to speak directly and very frankly to it's readers.
It's fashion with a bit more substance, it's ironic, daring and engaging.
It' definitely one my 10 commandments of fashion.

We live in an overcrowded media world. The weather girls were so wrong, it is not raining men it's raining free magazines, and news papers. Everyday. Tons and tons of them.
If you live in London ( or any other major metropolitan city), you know what I'm talking about you are approached about 50 times a day by people handing them out.
And most trendy/indie/thriftstores stack a number of free-magazines that sort of just sit there looking lonely 'til someone is so bored or just curious (like me) picks them up.
If you then do this about 3-4 times a week, stacks of "dead" magazines are likely to follow.
If you then buy a number of magazines a week you end up with even bigger stacks.
So today I'm starting a magazine feature where I put my 19 years of experience of reading magazines to the test as I dive deep into the magazine jungle In hopes that you my friend(s) will not have half your flat overtaken by mags (like me).

Women on the verge is the movie of the day.

A woman's lover leaves her, and she tries to contact him to find out why he's left. She confronts his wife and son, who are as clueless as she. Meanwhile her girlfriend is afraid the police are looking for her because of her boyfriend's criminal activities. They talk to a female lawyer, who turns out to be the lover's new lover, and everyone's path keeps crossing each other's in a very complicated and confusing manner.

The house of Victor & Rolf Exhibition

The House of Victor & Rolf exhibition is the first in the UK show to honour this highly influential dutch duo.
The dramatic exhibition mirrors the equally dramatic avant garde conceptual fashion, presented here in typical stylized and theatrical surrealist dream (that overtakes almost the whole Barbican gallery).

Anyone who has been fortunate enough to see a Victor & Rolf show marbles in the showstopping and surreal sence of irony each piece represent.

It's so much more than fashion, it's a subtle remark on a social phenomenon, its a cheeky comment in a dreamlandscape, it's the point where art co-exists with fashion, perfect, natural and abstract.

Highlights of the exhibition include pieces from Atomic Bomb, 1998–99, featuring a mushroom cloud-like cushioned necklines and Russian Doll, 1999–2000, in which a single model was painstakingly dressed by Viktor & Rolf until she was gasping under 70 kilogrammes of exquisite haute couture. Bells, from 2000-2001, models emerged from a smoke-filled space in clothes embroidered with hundreds of brass bells, so they were heard before they could be seen.

Mixing performance, contemporary and conceptual art, the surrealism of the Dadaists and the beautiful fashion of high couture design, the House of Viktor and Rolf exhibition is a slice of fashion heaven, presenting the unique point of view of Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren. The show runs from 18th of June o until the 21st September 2008.

The Victor & Rolf Exhibition shop is full of goodies including limited edition perfumes, specially commissioned silk scarves and an amazing book on the exhibition,.

Mr dope as voice is back from la la land it seems as he is returning from a long hiatus (too long if you ask me!), and might just be back with a single before the end of the year on J records (I love you) and an album at the beginning of 09.

The label took over D's contract from Virgin Records in 2005, where he released his critically acclaimed albums "Voodoo" (my favourite) and the original Neo-Soul masterpiece and debut album, Brown Sugar.

After the massive success of Voodoo D'angelo fell of the musical map, and appeared in the media after a serious car accident and drug related arrest.

Don't worry D, even the best of us have our dope ass moments. We Forgive you

The forthcoming release is said to feature Raphael Saadiq (we love) and John Mayer (we like).

We salute the original dope asses of fashion, mademoiselle Edina Monsoon and mademoiselle Patsy Stone.

Starting out as a semi successful sketch called 'Modern Mother and Daugther' in UK sketch show French & Saunders, The unforgettable characters of Edina Moonsoon and Patsy Stone went on to conquer a whole world.
The original sketch centered around a schoolgirl played by comedian French, who tries to get her homework done amidst her mother,(played by Saunders) throwing tantrums and threats.The character of Edina played by Saunders is rumoured to be based on real life PR guru's Edina Ronay and Lynn Frank who are said to have enjoyed a seriously outrageous life.Absolutely Fabulous series is available on DVD.
